Ms. Shenoda’s use of imagery throughout makes every scene come to life. Reading this I felt like I was there at every lighthouse described. She really knows how to write believable characters and can help you get into their headspace with just a few words.

Non stop funny!

Naomi Novik knocks it out of the park again! I'll start off with the inevitable disclaimer. I hate YA school of magic books. (Harry Potter is an excellent way to knock me out for surgery or whatever.) BUT I actually really enjoyed this one. I mean seriously, kids just end up dead and things are attacking people out of nowhere. It really grabs you by the cheeks and makes you stare it in the face for its entirety.

This is the cutest book. I love how the main character is telling his friend that his appreciation for her is not because of Valentine’s Day because he feels this way every day.

My daughter is 3 years old and this book really sparked something in her. She now likes to tell me she is not so small. There is one part of the book that says to share your voice and she makes sure everyone knows she is sharing her voice.
